Storm : an atmospheric disturbance manifested in strong winds
accompanied by rain, snow, or other precipitaion
and often by thunder and lightening
*
When the storms that hit our lives, often suddenly,
can take us by surprise
and often fear and worry are just waiting
to attempt to wash over us and drown us.
We can feel like the boat we are in is being tossed to and fro
and it can be very upsetting
and subsequently we can lose our peace.
*
And it may appear that Jesus is asleep in the boat
and we are afraid that the waves of anxiety and
impending doom are going to overwhelm us....
but wait...
isnt He with us in the boat?!
I can sometimes be so consumed by the height of the waves on the horizon that I forget He is here with me..
and has been with me all along..
I will never leave you nor forsake you ..Hebrews 13:5
*
The very fact that He said to the disciples Lets go over to the other side
meant they were going to get there.
Trust, peace and faith in God..
necessities to going through the storm
and reaching the other side
*
When and if fear and/or panic or
the absence of peace
seem to overtake us, we cry out as the disciples did to our Lord
and say Lord, dont you care that we drown?!
And our Lord gets up, and rebukes the wind
and speaks to the waves Peace ..be still
and then questions them /us about our fear and lack of faith
*
Perfect storm? I dont know if there is such a thing..
but in the storms of our lives we can have He Who is perfect in it and I suppose
that could make it the perfect storm
*
Who is this that even the wind and the waves obey Him?!
*
God Almighty..
Alpha and Omega..
Prince of Peace...
Word of God...
Lover of my soul
*
I rest in You..
let us go together to the other side..
There is much work to be done ...
and This is the work of God, that you believe
in Whom He has sent...John 6:29

My ponderings on the scripture verses from the book of Mark 4:35-41
If Jesus is not in the boat with you, why not consider asking Him in...
you'll never regret having asked Him
and it will change your life now and right into eternity.

what can I say...awesome!!!
ReplyDeleteYes - He never promised a smooth ride. He, instead, promised to never leave us, to be with us in the storm, in the fire.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the reminder, Deborah.
